Chocolate Orange Cake

This is a party in itself. After the first bite I need to have the recipe

Ingredients

Chocolate Orange Cake:subheading: Chocolate Orange Cake:

  • 3 Cups Almond flour3

  • 1/2 tbsp baking powder

  • Orange - the rind and half a cup of juice

  • 1 Tsp of vanilla extract

  • 4 eggs (Yolks separated - whites beaten and added in last)

  • Optional chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup oil - I used avocado and sometime use less oil. Could use coconut or olive.

  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar (I use a combo of maple syrup and coconut sugar)


 

  • Chocolate Frosting:subheading: Chocolate Frosting:

  • 4oz unsweetened chocolate (heated and melted)

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil or cacao butter

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1/2 cup almond or cashew butter

  • Optional orange extract to taste

Preparation

For Frosting:

  1. Melt chocolate and oil together on a very low heat and stir until fully melted.

  2. Then slowly add in maple syrup.

  3. Add in unsweetened almond or cashew butter slowly mixing it all together.

For Cake:

  1. Mix all wet ingredients minus the egg whites and sugar


  2. Then add dry ingredients

  3. Beat the egg whites until fluffy

  4. Lastly fold in the egg whites.

  5. Put all ingredients in a 9" pan

  6. Bake on 350 degrees for 25-30 mins.Bake on 350 degrees for 25 to 30 min

  7. Drizzle a little more orange juice on the cake after it is cooked allowing it to seek in and dry


  8. Once iced, place in fridge for an hour and then put the cake in a cool place.
